I stopped by a local shop today that sells Dufflet pastries. I was very disappointed and decided to shop elsewhere once I realized the brownies had no nuts. What a way to ruin a classic and turn it into a dumbed down bland failure. Why ruin brownies for everyone to satisfy the small minority that wants them nut free? People allergic to nuts should choose another square, not one famous for its nut flavour and texture.
We have purchased dufflet cakes for many many years, and this year we noticed a noticeably sharp drop in flavour and quality. Our most recent cake was overly sweet, and the texture was similar to out-of-the-box quality. Terrible! Will never buy again!
Used to be the best cake spot in town and now for some reason an idiotic decision to remove not one or two but every single retail location for loyal customers was made. My family and I have probably spent over $10000 at this place over the years and It’s impossible to find the cake that I want. Not sure why they would do this. Dumbest decision ever that will probably cost them the entire company within a couple years. I would have bought at least 10 cakes from them in the last 6 months but instead I haven’t bought 1 because they’re so hard to find and the ones that you do find are 9 times out of 10 not the ones people are looking for. Really really sad as this was my favourite cake store ever. Never had a cake as good as Dufflets and now it feels like they are already gone. RIP to the era of Dufflet retail stores. I wonder how long the business will survive.
Their Van driver drives dangerously. Cut in front of me from the right lane when I was in the left turning lane on Kipling into Norseman street. You’d think if you’re driving with a company vehicle that you would be more careful as you represent the company in a way. As for the cakes they’re okay. Too heavy and rich for my liking and not as fresh as they used to be.
Bought raspberry chocolate cake, very disappointed. We always buy your cakes during our celebrations, regular customer, know your taste very well. This was not the cake we always taste unfortunately. For 6inch cake the price went up and the quality went way down. I cannot believe it because it is hard to find quality cake but I wont be buying anymore. The decoration on top is also changed and there was not one raspberry in it. Very very SAD!!!!!
Two stars for the excellent cakes over the years. ..and I mean years!! First, we can't go downtown to get cakes, then longos stops carrying the one we like... can't find and 3 of them we'd be ohk with. The retail listing shows many places but no one has the ones we want. Plus the last one tasted off due to being frozen. No more preorder pickup. Ughhh Pure craziness!
If you are in the west end on a Friday, head to Dufflet Pastries on Norseman for their weekly street sale. Come with an open mind as there are no guarantees as to what’s on the shelves. The consistency, week over week, comes with the quality ingredients they use (no preservatives) and delicious flavour. The cakes are always hits for our dinner parties and freeze well if you buy a little extra. Vegan options are available. Shout out to Miguel for his efficient service and pleasant demeanour. More cookies please - the kids love them!!
