Stopped in to pick up some lamb and decided to have a look at their bacon. I was told that the Apple bacon, which didn't say apple smoked, just Apple bacon on the label, was smoked and was good. I actually had some tonight and I can tell you that this particular bacon has never seen a smoker nor has it ever seen Applewood. It doesn't even taste like bacon, it actually doesn't taste like anything. that the lamb was a bit smelly but not too too bad. This is the same owner that had Royal York meat market and every time I purchased meat in that location, it was suspect a few times. Definitely the bacon was not worth the money and will be seeing the inside of the recycling bin.
Great meat market, good quality meat . I buy a turkey there every year and have never been disappointed. The selection and service are good. If you are not sure about how to cook it ask, they have a wealth of knowledge. I enjoy buying a lot of my fruits and vegetables at this location. Great assortment of other neat items too. Pricing for the fruits and vegetables are better priced than going to Costco and your not over buying and wasting. I have even compared the pricing to no frills and the meat market is generally better priced and great quality. I highly recommend this best kept secret with the residents of the area and others that drive a few more extra minutes out of their way to go to a good quality , clean market with helpful staff and butcher.
Love Monte’s Premium Meats. Ernesto is first class and Patricia, Manager is so helpful and informative. Love the quality of their meat and produce. Used to go to Royal Meats but stopped a few years ago. So glad Ernesto is back in Mimico Village! Great store! Wishing you much success!!!
