Great mom and pop fruit and vegetable store in Etobicoke on the Lakeshore W. And other products of course. Seven days a week. Great hours. I am very impressed with the quality of their products. Recently, I purchased 2 containers of raspberries for $5. You cannot get that at a big box grocery store for $10-$15. Great service and interaction by the staff. If you live close I recommend you check this establishment out.
I come here all the time I went today and the young lady working there tried to rip me off by $10. I gave her $50 and my change was $36.97 She gave me $25 back I told her what is my change and she said $36.97 and I showed her she gave me only $25 back. She said sorry and rudely gave me the money. Be aware people this Young women is stealing from people.
Used to love coming here. However, now the new young girl up front keeps trying to rip me off and gives such a terrible attitude everytime I come into the store. She is super lazy and weighs all vegetables together while charging the most expensive price. She also give back the incorrect change. Whenever I try to explain to her what she has done, she has a huge attitude when she is called out. Please please don't let this individual work the register. Her bad attitude and laziness makes me not want to shop here. This is the third time she has given me an attitude and tried to rip me off. This is unacceptable.
I came because of the good reviews, I wanted to get produce that's better than grocery store chains. But I ended up just throwing $20 down the drain. The cauliflower and strawberries I bought went moldy the very next day. I bought a couple more things that were bad but this was a week ago so I forget what they were. They also don't mention anywhere that they don't accept MasterCard. And there were tons of fruit flies around the produce *inside* the store. I really came with high hopes and am so disappointed.
The produce from here is better than anywhere else I've been so far. It lasts longer and tastes way better. It was so much better we're just going to buy produce from here for now on. The prices for the produce were also really great. Some other stuff was a bit pricey, but you can just get those at another store that isn't a produce store.
I stopped by this place while staying at TheWestLake hotel down the street about 3 minutes walk. I was really impressed with both the variety of the produce and the other options that worked well in my hotel as far as preparing a meal. They have an excellent assortment of meats and cheeses and I could really get into trouble there with all the awesome cheeses they had! Besides the fresh produce, which I will say, I was surprised at how fresh everything looked, considering they are inside a city, they had other food items that can easily be prepared. Pastas, sauces, herbs, spices, and yes - you guessed it...RAMEN. The staple of any traveling consultant who lives out of a hotel room! I picked up a couple of beautifully ripe (and firm) heirloom tomatoes that I sliced, added a little sea salt and black pepper and enjoyed with my meal and also as a snack. There was a bit of a language barrier for me as I was trying to find some Kimchi to have with my Ramen, but it was probably as much my Texan accent than anything. The kind lady on the cashier got me connected with a lady in the back sorting out produce and told me they didn't have Kimchi. That was a little disappointing, but what do I know about anything that's sold in Canadian markets? :-) I do recommend this market - being a country boy from Texas and raising gardens (big ones) I have a good eye for good produce, and this place has it. Their blackberries and raspberries were amazing. It's not a large market and I still spent 20 minutes inside. If you want to make a nice meat and cheese platter for your next shindig, hit this place up because they've got some beautiful cheeses!!! Pics below!
Fabulous fruit and veggie place. He gets all my grocery business because place is friendly and produce is always fresh. Owner and staff work very very hard to make the place impeccable, organized and easy to shop.Price is reasonable. I love that I now only go to big grocers for meats and fish. We need a full service butcher and meat place near by. There’s a small local butcher that is good but not nearly enough variety I would like to not have to leave the neighborhood for grocery shopping at all.I think with strong anchor businesses other new businesses would start to open ( and the existing business s reopen of course). Village fruit and Vegetable is also open seven days a week!! There’s a lesson in that for other Lakeshore Businesses. It’s makes no sense everything closes Sunday. That nonsense stopped in the 60s. Of course ,if shops don’t open Sunday they discovere there’s o business Sunday..lol. Strange how that works!
