Great value and good food! My dad took me here a lot when I was younger. The chicken soup was fantastic, a lot of dumplings, meat, and provisions! I do enjoy the oxtail and jerk chicken as well + dumpling/festival. I love going here, reminds me of my dad fondly when he was alive. If you're hesitant, I think it's at least worth trying.
This place changed big time I used to order oxtails with rice and peas now I get rice and peas with oxtails bones where’s the meat where’s the flavour. I’m amazed at my self I spent $23.50 on large rice and peas with oxtail BONES
Fantastic staff and Fantastic food. Oxtail, jerk chicken, rice and peas and red pea soup was all delicious. Home cooking at its best. We'll be back for sure.
UPDATE: Supporting your community and especially your black community is hard Use to enjoy coming here until my last couple visits. Second last visit you can see (pictures attached) the lack of meat in my meal, and is was super dry and when I brought to the OWNER’S attention she smiled and said okay without caring for compensation MY LAST visit AND will NOT return was to hear the OWNER complaining and laughing about me not wanting any drumstick pieces in my meal to avoid any further disappointment on spending my hard earned money It’s nice to come back to my childhood home and see Big G’s thriving. Definitely a staple in the community. The prices and portions are still very satisfying for your belly and pockets. The 2-4-1 deal is a must, you might as well :) From the Authentic flavors to the gracious service, I’m always happy to spend my money here. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
It’s been a while since I last went to Big G’s 2-4-1 Jerk Chicken, so I decided to grab the large jerk chicken meal again — still $15, and the portion is huge, which is great. The chicken itself still tastes good and the service was quick, but I noticed a few changes. They no longer give the creamy coleslaw I used to like — now it’s just plain salad with no dressing. Also, they switched from kidney beans to a different kind, and I honestly preferred the old ones. The rice was also way oilier than I remember, which was a bit off-putting. Still a solid spot for big servings and quick service, but I definitely miss the old recipe and sides.
Any Jamaican place I go to, I always get the oxtail. From Oshawa to Hamilton and up to Barrie, this one so far has been the best I have had. Good enough that I had to comment. This was nice. Next time I do an airport drop off, I'll be in.
Ordered jerk chicken rice and patty. I ordered small and the size feels like large which i am really happy about. Flaky and meaty patty 10/10 jerk chicken is so flavourful . This place is amazing will come back again.
