I just finished a 5-class, 90 minutes each session course with Carlos Tomas at Shifters in Etobicoke, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Carlos is an incredibly patient and knowledgeable instructor, which made learning to drive stick way less intimidating. From the first lesson, he had a way of explaining things that just made sense, especially with the clutch and shifting gears. What really stood out was how calm and encouraging he was throughout the lessons. Even when I made mistakes, he’d guide me through it without making me feel pressured. By the end of the course, I felt confident and comfortable driving a manual, which I never thought would happen! If you’re looking to learn or brush up on your manual driving skills, I highly recommend Carlos—he’s amazing at what he does.
Carlos is an excellent instructor! Very approachable and patient and especially knowledgeable. He taught me not only the fundamentals of the manual transmission but the fundamentals of driving. I don't regret my time at Shifters, and would recommend them to anyone not only wanting to learn to drive a manual transmission, but driving in general.

Carlos is an excellent instructor. He takes the time to explain and help visualize what is actually happening inside of the car, which I found extremely helpful in understanding the techniques, not just memorizing actions. He is patient, relaxed, observant, and very professional, and he made learning a fun experience, highly recommended.
Contacted Carlos as I needed a refresher course before my trip to Italy. I hadn't been in a manual since in 15 years and completely lost it. Carlos walked me through everything step-by-step and showed me the right way to be doing things.
